“When did it get so complicated?”

From the Friends' first season there was a scene in the second episode between the two, out of six, protagonists of the renowned north American sitcom, namely, Rachel Green and Ross Geller, where the question about when did love life got so complicated compared to the initial thought of it was asked, leaving a motto and vent about the expectation and believe of finding the one "and that'll be it" versus the raw and opposite reality possibility of that hypothesis during our own existence.

Within the context of the question asked by Rachel, what came next was a true getting out my chest think, where the, at the time, Central Perk's server starts to share her point of view with Ross.

Remember when we were in high school together?

Yeah.

I mean, did not you think you were just going to meet someone, fall in love, and that will be it.

… silence…

Ross?

Yes, yes.

In consideration to this lines of Rachel and agreeing of Ross, I felt comprehended for both these fictional characters, and in that sense, with the script writers of the show as well, about something that, if happened, is, for me, much more than the reality and dream combined can offer; an unattainable and infinite feeling of freedom, transparency and ineffable love. An experience that transcends all the fictional romance movies, books, or other types of art, but even so and at the same time, can be real and, in the most marvelous way, tangible from all over our epidermis while in tune with our heartbeats.

With the background of the previous paragraph into account, is not worth it, even if someone thinks and/or says that this ambition can be much more an illusion than a real and positive way of thinking, to be able to pursue and having that willingness about things that gives us air to breathe and have significance for us? Why should we give up on our own ambitions, even if the probability of that kind of reality happening is low or almost non existential? We should not! In that sense, even when "meet someone, fall in love, and that will be it" or something else seems impossible to happen or "got complicated", I think the best way to figure it out is to keep trying to put ourselves in a position where we can live healthily our life while maintaining that dream and meaning alive.

Love and Significance in the Silence of "Life Is Beautiful"

"Life Is Beautiful", by Roberto Benigni (as director, co-writer, and actor), is one of the best-known historical drama narratives in the seventh art - alongside, for example, Schindler's List. With the interpretation of Benigni himself as Guido, Nicoletta Braschi as Dora, and Giorgio Cantarini as Giosué (the kid), " La vita è Bella " tells a touching and optimistic story in a tragic environment about an open-minded Jewish waiter, his son, and his wife, and the turn their lives suffer when they become victims of the Holocaust during the Second World War (1939-1945). Within the Nazis' antisemitic extermination context, also called "the Final Solution", Guido uses everything he can - a perfect mixture of will, humor, and imagination - to protect his son from the injustice and misfortune of that horrendous and inhuman massacre of the twentieth century. If history books and other factual information confront us with the numbers and the chimney...

The Power of Dreams in The Notebook

In the universe of romantic cinema, The Notebook (2004), directed by Nick Cassavetes as an interpretation of Nicholas Sparks' book, stands to me as a must-watch. While on the surface the narrative tells a story of enduring love, the film is propelled by a force more profound than mere romance: the power of dreams. Dreams, in this context, transcend the simple act of sleeping and go beyond mere hypothetical scenarios; they are visions, promises, and hopes that shape the characters' identities and defy the crushing weight of reality and time. Therefore, in the above-mentioned sense, the film's power lies in its exploration of how a shared dream can become an anchor, a compass, and ultimately, a testament to a love that persists against all odds - both when we actively fight for it and when it lives quietly and respectfully. The most tangible and powerful manifestation of the aforementioned paragraph is the dream house Noah builds for Allie. This structure is not ...
